Artist Statement

I paint places that evoke a slower, quieter, and more enduring way of life. As a child, during a family vacation out west, I first discovered a Ghost Town. I was fascinated by a place that was frozen in time and had a story to tell.

For years, my subject preference has been historic and cultural places that bear the imprint of human experience and the passage of time- yet free of visible figures. By removing people, the work becomes timeless and allows for myself and the viewer to imagine the human stories that have unfolded and to form a personal connection to the place.

Like many of us, I am increasingly aware of the fleeting nature of trends and consumer culture. My paintings are, in part, a response to that observation. They are expressions of what feels authentic and lasting to me.

If you are drawn to quiet places, lived-in beauty, and the allure of color and light, I invite you to explore my work. Step into these paintings and experience the sense of calm, reflection, and connection they are intended to inspire.
