Artist Statement
I paint places that transcend our modern world—landscapes that evoke a slower, quieter, and more enduring way of life.
I am particularly drawn to places with buildings that bear the imprint of human experience and the passage of time, yet remain free of visible figures. By removing people, the work becomes timeless. I imagine the human stories that have unfolded within these places and to form my own personal connection to them.
After a thirty-year career in fashion retail, I became increasingly aware of the fleeting nature of trends and consumer culture. My paintings are, in part, a response to that experience. They are expressions of what feels authentic and lasting to me.
Many of my paintings feature portals—doors, windows, pathways, and gateways—that invite viewers to step into another world, suggesting possibility, reflection, and curiosity. My experimentation with surface texture continues to evolve. I am currently building layers beneath the painted subject, creating a tactile presence that carries more than an image. My hope is that these textured surfaces invite closer observation and reward sustained engagement.
Ultimately, I paint the feeling of standing in a place and sensing the history it holds. I am fascinated by the lives that may have passed through it and by the connections I imagine between past and present. Through painting, I seek to preserve those moments of wonder and appreciation—to hold them, revisit them, and keep them alive in memory.
If you are drawn to quiet places, lived-in beauty, and the allure of color and light, I invite you to explore my work. Step into these landscapes and experience the sense of calm, reflection, wonder -and connection they are intended to inspire.
